HOW IT WORKS
A simple way to look at the home with more clarity.
Before They Forget is designed to help families slow down and assess the home with more structure. Instead of trying to figure everything out at once, the experience guides you through important areas step by step so concerns are easier to see and understand.
For $10, you move through a guided assessment, review key spaces in the home, and receive a clear report at the end. The goal is not to overwhelm you. It is to help you leave with a better picture of what needs attention now and what can come next.

Frequently asked questions
What is Before They Forget?
Before They Forget is a guided home safety assessment designed for families navigating Alzheimer’s, dementia, and memory-related change. It helps you review the home, identify concerns, and receive a clear summary of what needs attention.
Why does it cost $10?
Before They Forget costs $10 because there is real infrastructure, real technology, and real human oversight required to keep the system running reliably as assessments are processed. We are not a nonprofit and do not have outside funding, so this small fee helps us provide the experience in a way that is private, reliable, and ad-free.
Your assessment is built from the information you share about your home and your family’s situation as it relates to Alzheimer’s or dementia. While Before They Forget is not medical advice, it is designed to give you a clearer and more useful picture of what may need attention at home.
We also believe your data should remain yours. We do not sell, share, or make your information accessible to advertisers or outside parties.
We know $10 may feel small to some people and significant to others. That is one reason we offer Help Another Family, which allows others to help cover the cost for someone who may need access. If the $10 is a barrier, contact us. We will do our best to make sure you can still use Before They Forget.
What is Help Another Family?
Help Another Family is a way to cover the cost of a Before They Forget assessment for someone who may not be able to afford it.
When you choose this option, your contribution helps another family access the same home safety assessment, personalized results, and next-step guidance. If you would like to contribute without completing an assessment yourself, you can also use this donation link.
If the $10 cost is a barrier for you, contact us. We will do our best to help you access Before They Forget.
Is AI used in Before They Forget?
Yes. AI is used to help process the information you provide and generate your personalized results. This helps turn your assessment into a clearer, more useful summary of what may need attention at home.
Your assessment data is not used to train AI models. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default unless a customer explicitly opts in. OpenAI also states that API abuse-monitoring logs are generally retained for up to 30 days and then removed, unless longer retention is legally required.
Before They Forget is not medical advice. AI is used to help organize and generate results based on the information you share, but the purpose is to give you a clearer picture of what may need attention at home. Your data remains yours, and we do not sell or share it with advertisers or outside parties.
How long does the assessment take?
Most families can complete it in one sitting, though timing will depend on the size of the home and how much detail you want to include.
What areas of the home are included?
The assessment walks through key spaces in the home and helps you review common areas where safety concerns and daily challenges may begin to show up.
Do I need any special knowledge?
No. The experience is designed to be clear and straightforward for families without any technical or medical background.
What do I receive at the end?
You receive a home readiness score, a prioritized breakdown of concerns, a supportive written summary, and practical next-step guidance. You will also get a list of recommended items you can review and purchase through Amazon. Our goal is to help you understand what needs attention, why it matters, and what to do next — without spending hours trying to figure it all out on your own.
Is this medical advice?
No. Before They Forget is a home assessment and planning tool intended to help families better understand the home environment.
